One-Minute Energy Shifters for a Better Mind

Today, let’s talk about the concept of ‘energy shifters’ for a better mind. 

Fear, anxiety, stress, depression, jealousy – All of us go through these negative emotions at some phase in our lives. Often, we find ourselves down because of them and end up feeling helpless. But, when there is no one to hear us, ‘Self-Help’ is the best option.

What is Energy Shifting?

Energy Shifting is a self-help technique where we attach one minute shift to each negative emotion. 

For example-

Whenever I feel angry, I will go and take bath. 

Whenever I feel anxious, I will take a long walk alone.

Whenever I am sad, I will write down my thoughts.

Energy-shifting actions will help us to not only come out of that particular negative emotion but also to make us feel good about ourselves.

There are close to 30+ negative emotions and if we associate a one-minute energy shifter to each negative emotion to practice associating that negative emotion to a relative action, you will be mentally and emotionally strong. But you also need patience and practice to gain maximum benefits from this technique. It requires practice until your subconscious mind accepts and reminds you of your energy-shifter. 

Every time you are feeling sad, your mind should remind you of writing it down in a diary or notebook, but to make it seamless you need to practice it a couple of times until it becomes second nature.

But before you begin with that it is equally important to understand what is causing these negative emotions in you. Write down clearly what is it that is disturbing you. Understanding this will help you a great deal in shifting it. 

Great then, now that you know why you are feeling low find some time today to do the following activity-

Write down your preferred energy shifters to each negative emotion and feed it to your mind so that you can remind yourself of it when you are down the next time.

Some of the energy shifters can be

Go barefoot on grass/land-

The earth has amazing healing energy. It will help you and your emotions feel grounded. Also, the greenery and the trees around will help you in taking in fresh air full of oxygen which may help you in thinking and concentrating on the problem at hand.

Swimming-

Swimming is an exercise that involves all your body parts. A good swimming session will leave you refreshed and may even help clear your thoughts regarding your feelings and emotions.

Stargazing-

As silly as it may sound, star gazing at night is an activity that will not only shift your energy but the quietness of the night may also help you think better and sometimes give you answers that you may not get in the chaos of the day.

Painting-

Painting as a hobby is the most relaxing one. It will take you on a journey in a world away from reality. For some time you will get away from your life and into the picture, you are painting. It may also help clear your perspective and gain newer insights on issues that may be bothering you.

Writing-

You can write a story or just a simple quote. This may motivate you in doing things and taking decisions that, you may have been keeping pending for a long period. writing poems may even help you express those feelings which you were scared to express in the first place.

Going for a walk-

Walking or jogging will release those feel-good hormones called endorphins. It will help you feel good about yourself and not only that once you get those positive vibes you will be able to make better decisions and make choices that are beneficial for you. The endorphins will also help you get rid of your negative emotions.

Listening to music or a particular song- 

Songs are like magic for some people. Nowadays, various noise-canceling devices in the market help in cutting any outside sound. You can invest in one to help you change your thoughts, breathe and slow down whenever you are feeling overwhelmed. 

Playing your favorite musical instrument-

If you are a music lover and you have learned a music instrument, this can be a great exercise to distract you from your negative mood. Creating music gives a sense of achievement and will help lift your mood.

Apart from the above given energy shifters, you can choose any other energy shifter of your choice. You can tailor them according to your hobbies and what makes you happy. To each his own! 

This being said make sure to practice your energy shifter so that your mind reminds you of it whenever you are down. Also, remember that unhealthy habits like smoking alcohol, etc can also act like energy shifters. Eating or binging is also a very common energy shifter. These will do more harm to your body mentally as well as physically. Make it a point that you do not resort to them or change them as soon as possible.

Your energy and your mood are in your own hands. There is a famous quote that says “God helps those who help themselves” So, understand your negative emotions and know that it is up to you to keep yourself happy and healthy. Use these energy shifters and see the change they bring in your life.
