Hello reader,
I wanted to take a moment to talk about a topic that is often misunderstood and underrepresented, but affects many people – Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
OCD is characterized by intrusive and repetitive thoughts and behaviours that a person feels compelled to perform.
These can interfere with daily life activities, including loss of concentration, strained relationships and avoidance of certain situations. Even mild OCD may lead to significant distress and anxiety.
If you have been feeling like your thoughts and behaviors are becoming repetitive and are causing you distress, it may be worth considering seeking professional help.
Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is known to be effective in reducing the frequency and intensity of obsessive thoughts.
You may also consider practicing mindfulness, engaging in physical exercise, and avoiding caffeine and other stimulants, can help reduce the symptoms of mild OCD.
There are support groups, also available online, where people with OCD share their experiences and offer support to one another all of which can be helpful in managing mild OCD.
I hope this email has been helpful in providing some information about OCD, and encouraging you to reflect on your experiences.
To help you learn more about this topic, I have two posts for you. The first post talks about OCD in detail. The second post explains how to deal with OCD.
