Stories of Hope (Mental Wellness)

My Transformation Story

My story will surely motivate every woman who is reading this.

I am on the healthier side since I got married but at that time I didn’t take this too seriously because I was moderately obese.

But, during the 9th month of pregnancy, my weight went up to 82kgs and I was looking like a mother of 3 kids.

What hit me the most was the taunts of my relatives. M mother-in-law once asked me “will you fit in this sofa or do you require the big one?” Such and so many other comments came my way.

Along with these taunts, my body wasn’t even supporting me in doing the daily household chores. I couldn’t bend down for picking up any object as my knees would hurt badly.

At that time I decided to lose weight, build strength, and get into shape.

The journey wasn’t easy because after delivering a baby your strength becomes almost zero. Due to Covid pandemic the gyms were closed too.

I started doing home workouts. In the beginning, I couldn’t perform any exercise for more than 2-3 reps. But still, I used to push myself.

I started my weight loss journey in September 2020 when my baby was 6 months old. I had decided at that time that 31st December 2020 would be my last day of being obese and I will start my new year at a healthy weight. That is exactly what I did.

I cannot describe in words right now what I have gone through. In September 2020 my weight was 82kgs while in December 2020 my weight was 60kgs. That journey wasn’t just about losing weight, it was about getting healthier mentally, and physically. From 1st January 2021, I joined a gym to stay fit and active physically and mentally. Now I know that I can keep my baby healthy if I keep myself healthy and active first.

One more last important thing I strongly believe is that, although we do not come from families who have a fitness background, we can still give a fitness background and awareness to our upcoming generations.
