Celebrating Women

Celebrating Woman

I am a woman and I love being one. The lipsticks, the shopping, the pregnancy bump, but also what comes along with it is the body shamming, the menstruation pain, and the innumerous responsibilities on our shoulders.

With the responsibilities, and the sole purpose of life being taking care of the house, children, husband, work, etc. our health and fitness takes a back seat and we don’t realize it until it’s too late. I had almost touched a century on the day of delivery (conceived after 10 yrs.- a different story to tell) and with the anxiousness of the delivery came another worry- will I shed all this weight ever? I managed to lose a couple of kgs in a few years but being a covid victim again piled on some and my hunger pangs were at another level. I have tried all fad diets previously ( GM diets, egg diets, liquid diets, visits to nature cures, etc) but the weight loss was temporary.

My journey

From being lethargic all the time, not able to fit in my clothes, and getting irritated I realized it is now or never. I had luckily already experienced a month with Fittr and so did not waste any time further and enrolled under my dream coach. It has been a journey of 8 months with ups and downs. There were times I wanted to give up but then I reflected on how far I have come. The few key points which made this journey sustainable are

  1. Being consistent and disciplined- no one can motivate you unless you REALLY want it.
  2. Not storing any junk food at home.
  3. Not going out often, and even when I did I either carried food or already ate at home.
  4. Cooking different meals within my calorie allowance- (pizza, pasta, pav bhaji, etc) so I did not crave outside food.
  5. Constantly telling my mind “the journey is going to be worth it.”
  6. Workout and NEAT – made it a part of my daily ritual and started enjoying it. Consider it as a rejuvenation instead of a punishment.
  7. Time management- Many working moms complain about time management so to give fitness a priority. I delegated and managed some tasks so that my workout doesn’t take a back seat.
  8. An excellent mentor to guide me throughout the journey without his support I would not have reached here. Also, now I don’t feel like giving up. Many insisted I could make it on my own-but my thought process – I did not want to take any chances.

Results

I have lost around 13kgs with approximately 40 inches and dropped down from size xl to m. My hunger pangs are in control. I’m active throughout the day. I am in a happy mood and most importantly I am back to being a CONFIDENT Woman. The difference shows when I socialize and through my work. I am a better Mom and a better wife and available for friends whenever they need me. The surplus reward is I can take numerous pictures and feel super happy.

A big shout out to all you lovely women out there, give your health and your fitness a priority over everything else. My transformation is still a work in progress but just sharing it with you all, “If I didn’t start I would have not reached here.” Let’s get out there and work towards making a better version of ourselves.
