When Life Knocks You Down, Get Up Stronger

Many people associate fitness with aesthetics: a six-pack, a lean frame, or numbers on a weighing scale. But real fitness? It’s about how you rise when life knocks you down. It’s about patience, healing, and rebuilding both your body and your confidence from the ground up.

This is a story about that kind of strength—the kind that begins from within. A young man who lost himself after a bike accident, and fought every single day to gain his strength and his life—back.

Here’s his journey, in his own words.

A Lean Kid Who Loved Sports

Hi, I’m Yash, a nutrition and fitness coach at FITTR, born and brought up in the small town of Sanquelim in North Goa. As a kid, I loved sports. I also represented my school at the state level in cricket and table tennis.

But despite my enthusiasm, I struggled with being physically weak and underconfident. I was always lean. Too lean. I heard all the jokes, the teasing, the comments about how I didn’t “look strong.” People don’t always realize how those small remarks build up and break your confidence. This affected me deeply, taking a toll on my mental and emotional well-being.

Still, I loved playing. I kept going—until everything changed in 2020.

The Accident That Shattered It All

One bike accident. One split second. That’s all it took.

I ended up with multiple fractures in my thigh bone. The pain was unbearable, but what came next was the worst—surgery, a steel rod implanted for support, and eight long months of complete bed rest. I couldn’t move. I lost weight, energy, blood—even hope.

My leg felt like a burden. The doctors told me I’d find it hard to walk again, let alone play sports. I remember lying in bed, wondering if this was it. If I’d ever feel like myself again.

But somewhere deep down, I wasn’t ready to accept that as my truth.

The Day I Took My First Step

After two long years, I finally had the surgery to remove the steel rod. The moment my stitches were removed, I didn’t wait. I walked into a gym—not to ask questions, but to buy a membership.

People thought I was crazy. I could barely stand properly, but I had made up my mind. I wasn’t going to let this be the end of my story.

Those first few days? Brutal. My body was weak. I could barely lift, stretch, or balance. But I showed up. That was all I could do—just show up and give my best.

Learning to Do Things the Right Way with INFS

In 2022, I came across INFS through my cousin. I had already been training, trying to recover, but I realized I needed to understand my body better. I didn’t want to follow random advice. I wanted to learn the science behind fitness and nutrition.

And honestly, that decision changed everything for me. Enrolling in the INFS Diploma In Nutrition and Fitness.

For the first time, I wasn’t just lifting weights or following meal plans blindly. I knew what I was doing and why I was doing it. I understood the science behind every workout and every meal I ate. The live lectures and classroom learning all helped me build confidence in myself and what I was doing.

I had dropped down to 42 kg after the accident. Slowly, with consistent effort, I brought myself back to 60 kg. My energy came back. My confidence came back. I feelt proud of my body for what it could do, not just how it looked.

Now a Certified Coach—Giving Back to Others

Today, I’m standing here, as a certified FITTR coach. And it still feels surreal to say that. Now, I get to help others who feel stuck—who don’t know where to start, who are coming back from an injury, or who’ve lost faith in themselves.

If there’s one thing I always tell my clients, it’s this:
“Focus on your internal health first. That’s where true strength begins.”

Muscles, looks, weight loss—they’re all great. But none of that matters if you don’t feel good from within. Energy, digestion, sleep, strength, peace of mind—that’s real fitness.

If you’re reading this and going through your own battle, I hope my story reminds you: Your comeback is always possible.
