At 52, Charu Kapoor is proving that age is just a number. A teacher by profession and now a certified fitness and nutrition coach, she is showing everyone that it’s never too late to chase your passion for fitness.
But Charu’s journey didn’t start here. With injuries forcing her to step away from the game, she switched to marathon running and, at 43, completed multiple half-marathons, marathons, and even ultra-marathons.
From a State-Level Athlete to a Marathon Runner
Charu always had a passion for sports. She was once a state-level badminton player, actively competing and staying fit. But like many athletes, injuries became a roadblock. She had to step away from badminton, but she didn’t let that stop her.
Instead, she found a new passion—marathon running. At 43, when many people slow down, Charu took on the challenge of long-distance running. Over the years, she completed multiple half-marathons, full marathons, and even ultra-marathons. Running became her new love, and she kept pushing herself to do better.
A New Challenge: Learning More About Fitness
While training for marathons, Charu always believed in learning and improving. During the lockdown, she decided to study marathon training in detail and earned a marathon trainer certification online. This allowed her to train others and help them prepare for marathons.
But soon, she noticed something missing. The training focused only on running techniques and endurance, but it didn’t cover nutrition in detail. She realized that without proper nutrition, even the best training wouldn’t give the best results.
That’s when she started looking online for courses on nutrition and fitness. After a lot of research, she found INFS.
Overcoming Obstacles: A Test of Strength
Charu enrolled in the INFS Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness with a goal—to learn the science behind nutrition and training. But her journey was far from easy. She faced perimenopause and endometriosis, both of which made it difficult to stay active.
There were days when it felt impossible to continue. But Charu wasn’t someone who gave up. She focused on her recovery, took small steps, and kept moving forward.
As she regained strength, she enrolled with a FITTR coach to improve her fitness. That decision changed everything. She not only got back on track but also participated in TC19 and won in the senior category!
Becoming a Coach: Spreading the Right Information
Charu knew that misinformation about diet and fitness was everywhere, and she wanted to change that. With her certification and experience, she is now dedicated to helping others with the right knowledge.
She has proved that fitness has no age limit and that persistence always pays off. As a coach, she inspires her mentees by leading by example—showing them that nothing is impossible if you stay committed.
Her journey is a reminder that setbacks are just a part of the process. What matters is pushing forward and never giving up.
