When Life Gets Tough, Get Stronger!

INFS scholar Priyanka Dutta Barua faced numerous challenges on her fitness journey, but she never gave up. Instead, she chose to keep moving forward, turning her setbacks into opportunities for growth at every step.

Here’s her journey.

 

The Beginning: Stuck in Weight Gain-Loss Cycle

As a teenager, Priyanka struggled with weight loss. She tried countless fad diets, hoping to find a solution. While these diets worked temporarily, the weight would always come back as soon as she returned to her normal routine. This constant cycle of losing and regaining weight made her question whether lasting change was even possible.

 

A Life-Changing Diagnosis

In 2020, Priyanka faced one of the most challenging moments of her life. She was diagnosed with Lupus Nephritis, a severe autoimmune condition that affected her kidneys. This condition caused her body to lose protein at an alarming rate, and there was no cure.

To manage this, Priyanka had to rely on heavy steroids and medications. These treatments helped suppress the condition but came with side effects. One of the biggest setbacks was being unable to lift weights due to the multiple biopsies she underwent. The result was a weight gain of 10 kilos in just six months!

 

The Turning Point: Finding FITTR and INFS

Once her body started adjusting to the medications, Priyanka made her way back to the gym in late 2021. Although she managed to lose a few kilos on her own, it was getting difficult to make further progress without a structured plan. All she needed was the right guidance.

In mid-2022, Priyanka decided to enrolled under a FITTR coach on a friend’s recommendation. For the first time, she had a personalized plan and a mentor who believed in her. Her coach even encouraged her to participate in TC18, and that decision proved to be a turning point. Priyanka started her transformation journey at 70 kilos and through hard work and dedication, she came down to 58 kgs!

 

Diving Deeper Into Fitness

Seeing her potential, her coach suggested she take the next step and pursue the INFS Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness. Priyanka realized she wanted to pay it forward. She wanted to help others transform their lives, just as her coach had helped her.

Priyanka took her studies seriously. She attended live lectures, where most of her doubts were resolved. Whenever she needed more clarity, she relied on recorded videos. She also made it a habit to dedicate time each day to studying the course material. This disciplined approach helped her successfully complete the diploma, turning her passion into purpose.

 

Looking Ahead

Today, as a certified fitness coach, Priyanka is ready to inspire and guide others on their journeys. With her knowledge, experience, and dedication, she is set to transform lives and spread the message that fitness is for everyone.

“Fitness is not optional in life,” Priyanka says. “We need to think about our long-term existence and aim for a healthy life. Fitness is the way to go.” Her story is a reminder that no matter how tough the challenges, with the right guidance and determination, anything is possible.
