Careers in Fitness, INFS Alumni Interview Series

A Dentist Turned a Powerlifting Champion and a FITTR Coach

Do you remember those days when sports were everything? The excitement, the friendships, and the thrill of competition were at the heart of school life. But often, somewhere along the way, we’re told that sports can’t be part of our “real” future. We’re told to focus on studies, to put aside the games we love, and to follow a more traditional path. This is where Dr. Aditi Gupta’s story shines a different light on the situation.

Read her story in her own words.

Following the “Traditional” Path

I’m Dr. Aditi Gupta, a dental surgeon, and an INFS-certified nutrition and fitness coach. Growing up, I was passionate about sports. I loved the energy, the thrill of competition, and the sense of accomplishment after every game. But like many others, I was told to focus on academics and leave sports behind. Even though I decided to pursue a career as a doctor, my love for sports never faded.

Rediscovering the Passion

Everything changed when I got introduced to powerlifting during college. It felt like I had found a part of myself that had been missing. I started training seriously, and with consistent effort, I achieved my first big milestone—the “State Best Lifter” award.

Soon after, I earned a spot on the Indian team of the International Powerlifting Federation. Representing my country felt like a dream come true, and I wanted to keep pushing myself. Soon the lockdown happened. With sports coaching halted and life coming to a standstill, I needed a way to stay on track with my goals. That’s when I came across FITTR. I decided to enroll under a coach and kept training hard, determined not to let the lockdown derail my progress.

In 2021, the hard work paid off when I got the chance to compete in Turkey, representing India. I brought home the Gold medal, a moment that I will cherish forever.

Reaching New Milestones on the Way

The achievements kept moving forward. I became the TC13 Winner and even got a chance to compete on the ICN stage in 2023. But deep down I knew that it wasn’t just about competing or winning titles, having overcome obesity and PCOS myself, it was always about growing with a lifestyle that would keep me healthy—physically, mentally, and emotionally.

I wanted to understand fitness and health on a deeper level, so I enrolled in the INFS Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness. Studying nutrition and fitness science gave me the tools to not only improve myself but also help others in their fitness journeys.

Becoming a FITTR Coach

Fitness has changed my life in ways I never imagined. It taught me discipline, resilience, and the power of consistency. Moreover, it allowed me to turn my passion into my purpose. As a FITTR coach, there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing someone transform their life and knowing I played a role in that change.

I’m excited about the future and can’t wait to help more people discover the joy and power of fitness. I believe we all have the ability to change our lives and achieve things we never thought possible.

Remember, “Fitness and training are for everyone. If you wanna lift, just lift! Don’t let anyone talk you out of it.”
