Gym Dos and Don’ts for Beginners

Hello reader,

If you are new to gym culture, you might face some difficulties in understanding the various equipment and machines available in the gym.

Let’s look at what a beginner should do and not do when he/she starts the new habit of exercise regime.

DOs

  • Make sure to have a structured exercise plan based on your goal.
  • Ask a gym trainer to check your form and technique.
  • Get acquainted with the adjustments and usage of machines.
  • Follow proper etiquette, such as placing back the weights and other tools in place after usage.

DONTs

  • Don’t start with high loads or intensities, which can result in injuries.
  • Don’t perform workouts focusing on only the same muscle groups, such as performing only the upper body in all the sessions.
  • Focus on the movement of exercise. Avoid getting distracted by scrolling through mobiles.
  • Don’t compete against other people’s physique and ability to lift heavy loads. This might set an unrealistic expectation.
