Quitting a well-paid job amidst a global pandemic would be challenging, but I had planned for the year ahead with clear goals in mind. I am a firm believer in the mantra “No Matter What, Never Give Up,” and this go-getter attitude helped me through my self-transformation journey in fitness. Weighing 80 kgs in May 2021, I realized the importance of health and nutrition in our daily lives; hence, I took a professional break and started on a rigorous fitness regime losing 17 kgs in 27 weeks.
Inspired by my weight loss journey, I grew more inquisitive about nutritional science and joined the Professional Nutritionist Diploma Course. It enabled me to understand the crucial role nutrition plays in sustaining a healthy way of life. I gradually became involved in local walkathons since I experienced the vigor that such fitness programs provided general public during the pandemic. Stirred by the societal significance of such programs, I am pursuing a course on Basic Nutrition and Fitness from the renowned INFS, Pune.
I did not stop at this and have decided to help others achieve a healthy lifestyle. During my experience, I grew aspirations towards starting a health coaching program through the online medium in the long term. COVID-19 was a watershed moment in human history, and the post-COVID world will respect and look forward to leading a healthier life in all aspects. Now, one might ask. Where did you get the motivation to transform your life?
The answer is very simple. I felt I had hit rock bottom in various areas of my life, mostly related to health and well-being. So, it could only get better from there. I was determined and believed that this surely cannot be the end. With this belief and focus, I decided to turn my life around 360 degrees; and, with the support of my family and friends, I moved back to my hometown in May 2021, just after I recovered from Covid with 14 days of isolation at a house in Delhi with my close friend.
What all did I do?
I showed up every day for my home work-out, no matter how tired I was from the previous day. I completely cut out junk food from my diet and cooked a nutritious plate of food for myself every single day in my journey. Of course, my parents helped me a lot in the planning and cooking. Over time, I got excited about attempting a new form of exercise or cooking a new superfood ingredient. Today, both these things are instilled in me as a habit.
I went from eating 3 dinners at one point in time (all junk food) to preaching to others about eating a balanced and nutritious diet, and from leading an inactive life to doing 50 Surya namaskars in one go. Life turns around, if you just show up every day, for whatever little time you can. I have always been a fan of leading by example, so I really enjoy my health coaching journey now which is at a very nascent stage. I look and feel great from the inside which is a bonus. And I wish to inspire as many people as I can along my journey!
