Read on to know Poonam’s journey in the fitness industry, setting an example that one can take a step towards achieving their dream at any age of their life.
Deciding to Become a Personal Trainer
Usually, women of Poonam’s age tend to ignore their health. But, at the age of 35, after having two kids, Poonam embarked on her fitness journey. This made her believe that anyone, especially women, who pursue their passion will always be successful. She wanted to help thousands of aspiring people to achieve their fitness goals, and this inspired her to become a personal trainer. Today, with her passion and experience, she is touching and transforming many lives.
Learning and Growing at INFS
INFS offers several professional and skill-based courses. Although these are online courses, Poonam never felt as if she was doing a virtual course. She says that at every step of the course, the institute’s communication was at par. The faculty, online lectures, and sessions in groups were very interactive and thought-provoking. She always found herself motivated enough to complete the course sooner even though it was self-paced.
Becoming a personal trainer largely contributed to Poonam’s physical as well as mental health. She has always believed that a personal trainer needs to be a role model for the clients. This makes her push her limits and be consistent to become a fitter and stronger person. Moreover, being a personal trainer has largely contributed to Poonam’s self-confidence.
Living the Life of a Personal Trainer
Poonam dedicates 8 hours of her day to her work. She starts her day early morning at 5 AM, and her sessions with clients begin at 6 AM. She has 2 hours reserved for her own daily workout. While her afternoons are for her ‘me time’, her evenings are occupied by her family. Poonam says that as the lady of the house, it is her responsibility to make sure her family stays fit and healthy. Making it a point to not get too exhausted, Poonam daily gets a sleep of 7-8 hours.
Sourcing Motivation from Self
Every client comes with a unique set of challenges and every client has a different workout pattern based on their goals, limitations, and options. This requires Poonam to design personalized workouts, keeping her on her toes. She finds motivation within herself as she always aims to give her 100% for her clients’ better health and that drives her. Maintaining work ethic and best intentions are two other things that Poonam follows as a personal trainer.
Setting Future Goals
Understanding the importance of keeping oneself updated in the fitness industry, Poonam is currently pursuing the INFS Diploma in Nutrition and Fitness. In the next few years, she wishes to see herself as a well-established nutrition coach. She believes that her experience as a fitness trainer can definitely help people in transforming their lives. Moreover, Poonam is also studying further the Taekwondo Third Black Belt curriculum. Her target is to achieve the third Dan in the next 4-5 years.
Speaking to The Aspirants
