INFS Alumni Series – Tough Times Make Tough People

From being diagnosed with PCOS which led to secondary infertility to being a fitness coach who wants to develop her own identity, INFS alumnus, Lishi Swagatika has come a long way. INFS is proud of all that she has achieved and is glad to have been a part of her journey! Lishi has faced some tough times in her life. But, as they say – When the going gets tough, the tough get going!

Read on to know how Lishi now leads not only a healthy life but also a satisfactory one as a fitness coach after completing her course from INFS.

When PCOS struck…

Lishi always wanted to stay fit and she was, in fact, fit until she was diagnosed with PCOS. This led to secondary infertility and she had to go through rough treatment. For two long years, she had to take several medicines and hormonal shots that made her put on more and more weight. The hard times became harder when she suffered from a sciatica attack due to an inactive lifestyle. In order to lose all the extra weight that she was putting on, Lishi followed a lot of fad diets and trusted detox water. But, none of it worked.

Free Transformation Program (FTP) to the rescue

Lishi then found the Free Transformation Program by INFS (then a part of FITTR) to her rescue. Guess what, not only did she lose 4 kg weight but also got pregnant! She had defeated secondary infertility, but the fight wasn’t over just yet. Lishi’s pregnancy was complicated and she required complete bed rest. As a result, she started gaining immense weight.

To be precise, Lishi put on 15 kg in seven months, and this left her so dejected that she stopped weighing herself later. The last time she had checked her weight then, it was 84 kg.

Postpartum Journey

After delivering the baby, Lishi was determined to be fit again. Postpartum, she enrolled under a FITTR coach who helped her get back on track. After achieving her goals, she wanted to always stay fit. But, at the same time, she wanted to help others become fit too.

A Homemaker, a Mother of two, a Fitness Coach

Lishi takes pride in being a homemaker and a mother of two kids, aged four and 11. But, she wanted to build an identity of her own beyond this. She realized that becoming a fitness coach can help her fulfill two of her wishes – that of helping others become fit and that of creating her own identity. It also dawned on her that INFS can help her become a knowledgeable and skillful fitness coach. Wasting no time, Lishi enrolled in the INFS Diploma course and embarked on her journey as a fitness professional.

While learning at INFS, Lishi speaks of receiving a lot of in-depth knowledge but, the one lesson she learned here that has stayed with her to this day is that every piece of knowledge that you wish to pass on should be backed by science.

Life as a Fitness Coach

Being a fitness professional, Lishi tries to never skip her workouts and never go off the diet. But, being human, she tends to go off track at times. However, she picks up her workout and diet routine immediately the next day from where she had left. She believes in practicing what she preaches, and that is truly commendable!

As mentioned earlier, Lishi is a homemaker and a fitness coach. Her day starts at 6:30 AM. She drinks black coffee which is followed by an hour of workout. She then takes up cooking for her joint family. She starts her work as a fitness coach at 10:00 AM, followed by lunch and a nap break at 2:00 PM, and then she is back to work at 5:00 PM. Lishi juggles a lot of tasks in the evening which includes her work, helping kids with their studies and other activities, and taking care of her in-laws.

Lishi finds it worth being a fitness coach while also handling the many tasks of a homemaker because of the blessings she receives from her clients. She gets showered with her clients’ gratitude and that keeps her motivated! Within the next five years, she wants to transform at least 1000 lives, not just physically but also mentally. She wants more and more people to know of INFS so that they find an opportunity to build their own identity.

A Piece of Advice

To all the aspiring fitness coaches, Lishi has some great words of wisdom.

“Do not consider building a career in the fitness industry as a money-making process. It’s important to understand the needs of your clients and work accordingly. Don’t just think about the 3-month or 6-month package while guiding your client; guide them in such a way that it will help them throughout their lives. Always keep an eye on long-term goals.” – Lishi Swagatika
